By: Blonde Two
As you lovely Blondees and Blondettes know, I spent some of my Sunday morning up on Dartmoor at the Sharpitor carpark. It was a lovely day and I was accompanied by a take-away bacon sandwich and coffee from the fabulous Fox Tor Cafe. This (slightly naughty) purchase turned out to be a fortuitous Blonde-saver because when I dived into my bag at proper picnic time to find my tomato sandwich, I realised that it was still in the fridge at home. The car park was reasonably full and some other people were looking at the cyclists but I was surprised that nobody was shouting, cheering or even jangling a cow bell (which is apparently what you do at bike events). Once the sandwich and coffee were safely deposited inside the Blonde, I decided to do something about this situation and set about waving and cheering as bikes past. This proved a bit embarrassing as still nobody else joined in. It also proved a bit tiring as the stream of cyclists was pretty much constant.
I decided to moderate my cheers. Not in volume you understand, that would have been most un-Blonde. Instead I saved them for four categories; those cycling on their own – clearly in need of cheering up, those who said good morning to me – how polite, those who were ladies – pleased to note that the first one I saw through was a Blonde and those who went by the name of Mr Blonde Two – as far as I know, there was only one of those.
Mr Blonde Two is still at the “I don’t want to do that again” stage at the moment but I think I will go and cheer again next year and insist that Blonde One joins me. Now where can we get ourselves some of those cow bells?
I have cow bells-bought them in Switzerland though!!! I thought about doing the Dartmoor classic 35 mile route but didn’t sign up in time. Maybe next year!!!!
Well that is hopeful because I will be in Austria this summer!
Very glad to hear that there is only one Mr. Blonde Two. The thought of any more 6 foot Blondes and Not-At-All-Blondes lurking around unnoticed is rather unnerving.
Can you imagine, one of each is definitely enough for any county!
