What are you doing in exactly one month today? It is a Sunday so you might be considering: a) a pub lunch, b) a lie-in, c) a stroll on Dartmoor.

If you fancy a longish downhill stroll from Dartmoor, amongst charming and entertaining red-jacketed people whilst raising much needed funds for a very important Search and Rescue organisation, then you need look no further than the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton team’s Templer Way Challenge

Just in case you haven’t heard us say this enough; anyone who enjoys getting outside (and the team don’t just operate on Dartmoor) might one day need help or rescue. Dartmoor Search and Rescue teams are all manned (and ‘womanned’) by volunteers who have to raise their own funds in order to keep running. Public donation is vital to the continuation of these essential services.

And taking part in the Ashburton team’s Templer Way Challenge is a pretty good way to do your bit. Running from Haytor to Shaldon, the Templer Way offers a variety of scenery and a wealth of history. (Running from Shaldon to Haytor it offers a lot of uphill, but you won’t be doing that on this challenge!) You will however get to meet team members along the way and be treated to a ‘hands on’ demonstration of rescue equipment when you make it to Shaldon (of course you will make it!) This is a sponsored event and DSRTA ask for a minimum donation of £15. You can find their registration page here http://www.dsrtashburton.org.uk/templerway/
