The recent trip to the Peak District was the final element to my Diamond Challenge. This challenge, you may remember, is a fundraising mission by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to celebrate its 60th Anniversary and raise a little money in the process. I strongly believe in the value of this award and was only too pleased to take on a personal challenge that would help to raise the profile and funds of it. The form of challenge could have been anything I liked. I could have jumped out of a plane (too breezy), I could have swum the English Channel (too wet), or I could have attempted a bake-a-thon (too cooky). Lots of my fellow DofE Managers have attempted their own challenge. Some are cycling for it, some are recreating their whole Gold Award, but I chose to do a Bronze, Silver and Gold ‘style’ expedition this year. You have already heard how well the Bronze and Silver went.

I am pleased to be able to say that all 3 expeditions are now complete. The Gold expedition went exceptionally well (as you will find out over the next few days and weeks) and Blonde Two and I enjoyed every bit of it. The 4 days included lots of weather, miles and jelly babies but we came back saying that we wouldn’t have changed a bit of it!

Once I have completed my fundraising target I will be sending off for my DofE Diamond Challenge pin and wearing it with pride.

I make no apologies for repeating: if you would like to sponsor me please feel free to go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lucyatkins1
