What will you be doing next Tuesday?
We Blondes will be in London doing something really exciting. We will attending a publicity day with all of the other Ordnance Survey Champions. I am not really sure what happens at a publicity day because I haven’t been to one before; but I know that we are going to be interviewed, that we will talk to lots of interesting outdoorsy people and that we are going to have our photo taken. I don’t think the photography experience will be quite like this.
Attendance at this event will take a lot of Blonde planning. This will be a departure from the expedition norm; the packing must be compact but include such important items as walking boots, rucksacks, shampoo, hair dryers and straighteners (Blonde locks must look their finest).
London isn’t the first destination choice for those who love the outdoors, but I have been reliably informed that there will be a trig pillar at the studio (I know! Studio!) Apparently there are actual trig points in London, but I can’t find any of them on the map. At least next Tuesday I will among people who will be able to explain this situation to me.
Will this mean, and from the evidence of this pic, I suspect that this comment may indeed be a bit late, that the seventh is now falling off ?
It my well mean that Gimmer, it may well!
Good grief, who owns the Leica? For a time I was able to imagine parity between the lives we all three pursue; but this changes things completely. I must drop away gracefully from correspondence with you, the Leica being as much a class marker as a pair of matched Labradors and his-and-her Range Rovers. One of you, or both, belongs to a monied stratum of society so elevated that I am not worthy to touch the hem of either of your garments. Ave atque vale.
The Leica is borrowed, the image of it that is. I would like one though, they have an ‘air’ to them!
Alas, I cannot assist. I have scoured “The Pocket Atlas & Guide to London” from cover to cover, but not a trig point is to be seen. However, if you are looking for a good hotel, the Kingsley sounds admirable, boasting passenger lifts, electric light throughout, heating throughout, bathrooms on every floor, spacious Dining, Drawing, Writing, Reading, and Smoking Rooms” (tut!) “a good Billiard Room, Bedrooms from 2s. 6d. to 5s. 6d.”
I can loan you this guidebook for the great adventure if you so desire. It is only 113 years old.
Alas we will be fled to London before the esteemed guide could arrive. It would have made a fabulous blog post though!
