The Two Blondes recent stay at the Edale Youth Hostel was a very good experience for many reasons. All Youth Hostels seem to have got it ‘just right’ and provide a cheap, practical accommodation close to good walking areas. Normally a Youth Hostel is full of like-minded people who have excellent stories to tell about their adventures. Our visit here was no exception. It was a lovely building nestled at the bottom of the Rowland Cote Moor.
We stayed here at the end of our DofE Diamond Challenge as a treat after a week of camping and we were rewarded with all sorts of luxuries. We had a fabulous self -catering kitchen in which Blonde Two prepared a three course meal consisting of some unusual items! Our room had very very comfortable bunk beds with our own sink (no more traipsing along the toad road!). The communal lounge area had a view that kept us occupied for a very long time.
Even the ceiling had us admiring it from the comfy sofas.
Adorning the walls were quotes from well-known adventurers about the benefits of travel and adventure. There was also Edale’s very own equation which we like a lot and plan to refer to often.
All-in-all our stay was very enjoyable and neither of us wanted to leave.
If you’ve never stayed in a Youth Hostel before then I would recommend you get on with trying it out … you won’t regret it!
