Whilst in the very snowy Scottish mountains I didn’t expect to see much in the way of wildlife. I expected that any self respecting animal and bird would be tucked snugly away in their nest or den, waiting patiently for the winter to pass. Partly I was right! I didn’t see much in the way of wildlife on the Munro’s.

I was promised mountain hares when we climbed Ben Chonzie. Apparently there are lots of them and it’s fairly easy to see them! My walking companions did claim to have seen one but as soon as I turned to look it miraculously disappeared. I’m not entirely sure whether I believe they were telling the truth about seeing it or were just winding me up!

What I did see when on a valley walk was some stags. They were close and didn’t seem to mind when I got even closer. I managed to take numerous photos before the casually strolled off down the river bank.

They were as majestic and powerful looking as you would imagine.
