Move over Julie Andrews: these are a few of my favourite things …
Lovely Mr Blonde One (favourite man) decided we should go to Dartmoor (favourite place) last weekend for a walk (favourite pastime). We drove onto the moors through Poundsgate and the view of Corndon Tor and Yar Tor (favourite view of Dartmoor) opened up on front of us. We drove past Badger’s Holt (favourite location for employment) and ended our journey at Postbridge (favourite childhood memories here). The walk was amazing and included a point that Blonde Two and I have tried to find before: a memorial stone to William Donaghy, and a couple of new points that I’ve never visited before. The weather was perfect (I didn’t realise I had a favourite weather to walk in!). At the end of the day we visited the Post Office/stores and bought ice creams: rum and raisin (favourite flavour).
It was a good day, full of simple pleasures!
“- – – I love not Man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne’er express, yet cannot all conceal. – – -”
“Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage: Canto IV”, Byron
Perfect!
Horrah you finally found it – well done xxx
Blonde One, you will definitely have to take me back and show me where it is. Well done, I bet we were making it a lot harder than it needed to be! Maybe Mr Blonde One is your secret weapon!
It was easy to find when looking from the river uphill. I can see how we missed it looking from the top down.
Eventually!
