Right then Blondees and Blondettes. I am going to tell you something now; because if I tell you it, I will have to do it!
I am planning a long-distance walk; but I can’t tell you much about it at all;
I can’t tell you where it is except that it is in the UK.
I can’t tell you when exactly it is because I don’t quite know myself yet, but it will be later on this year.
I can’t tell you how far it is because I have just scared myself with the number 295 and may have to rethink the route.
I can’t tell you who I am going to walk it with yet, because I intend to invite people to walk bits of it with me. I am hoping that at least one of them will be as Blonde as me!
I apologise for that stream of non-information. Hopefully I will be able to give you something that makes more sense at some point. But until then; sometime this year, this Blonde will be walking some distance between somewhere and somewhere else and she might invite you along to join her.
There! I have told you now, so I will have to do it!
I’m in!
Most excellent news 🙂
I’ll hop skip and jump some of the way with you! As long as I’m not En France!!!!
Hooray! It might be the autumn!
Sounds great, perhaps each person accompanying you could carry a burning torch, in an Olympic-esque fashion for dramatic effect…..
I walk so slowly that a torch will probably be necessary at the end of every day!
Do you intend to take a tent? Whatever happens, keep the weight down. Consider not taking cooking equipment – you wont starve without it.
That is all I advise at the moment because I know too much of that kind of thing can be very irritating, but if you do want any more input just ask. You will likely just do your own thing and learn.
Multi day backpacking can be hard work but I find it so much more rewarding than day walks. I look forward to hearing more.
Last year I purposely didn’t reveal the whole of my route in advance which, if executed as planned would have seen me depart from chez moi and ending up at Lynmouth non-stop. That had to be modified, so Im glad I hadn’t committed myself to it on the blog – you are similarly wise.
I am torn between my tent (one-girl and under a kilo) and my bivvy bag. I want to take both, which really doesn’t fit in with keeping the weight down!!
Although I can’t tell you when, where or how far, I can tell you that there will be plenty of people who’d want to walk with you. Organise & enjoy!
They haven’t seen how slow I walk with my pack on yet! That is a lovely thing to say, thank you. I will get organising!
Hmmmm…. 295?
Half the South West Coast Path?
The Pennine Way and a bit?
Cape Wrath Trail and half way back?
Two Moors Way and again and again?
Nah! Much more fun to make your own route up. It is going to be one very long route card though!
K9 and I set a limit of 33 pounds weight which worked its way down to 28 pounds over three days, as we ate the food. Then when we shopped, it was 33 pounds again. K9 carried panniers – one dog tin each side. Definitely not both tent and bivvy. Cut the soap in half and only take half. Take a TINY cooker – hot drinks are an amazing boost. Butterpuff biscuits are great – bread is big, heavy and goes mouldy. One luxury – a small pair of field glasses are fun and also help you spot waymarks and stiles at a distance.
Do I have to take soap?!?
Well if you don’t, it will make it easier for K9 to find you when you are lost!
I’m blonde…
295 does sound a long way (unless it’s metres… or feet…)
I’d love to walk a bit of it with you.
I am going to pretend that it is metres! Keep an eye on the blog if you would like to come along (which would be great). More news in a few weeks!
