If you have ever walked with Little Miss Blonde and Blonde One at the same time you will be aware of the very long running argument about the watch. You will probably be tired of hearing the argument too!

Six years ago a very clever Father Christmas brought Little Miss Blonde a new expedition watch. It was for helping with timings on Ten Tors, DofE and a month long trip to Zambia and Botswana. It was a perfect watch: it told the time – digitally and analogically, it had a light, you could set an alarm (perfect for the 5am start on Ten Tors weekend), it also had a stopwatch, timer and a few other very necessary features! Its best feature though, was its ability to look good on a Blonde’s wrist! It was neither bulky nor macho looking. Perfect! It turned out to be so perfect that I have wanted one ever since that Christmas morning. I do have a very lovely expedition watch but it is not quite perfect: it is quite bulky and doesn’t look pretty on a Blonde’s wrist. Consequently I have borrowed Little Miss Blonde’s watch at every opportunity. When we walk together, I can occasionally persuade her that it is much more important for me to have the watch, but mostly we just argue about it. I sincerely apologise if you have ever had the misfortune of witnessing one of these arguments!

You might be wondering why I haven’t simply bought myself one before now. Good question. I have been looking for it ever since but it seems the lovely Timex stopped selling them. I have been on the hunt for a good enough alternative, to no avail, for several years. My search has even spread to Morocco, Norway and the USA.

Well it seems that this year Father Christmas is himself fed up of the arguments as he brought one for me! It was the best present ever, and I know that there are many people that regularly walk with us that will think so too!

Here are the 3 watches. (The lovely new one on the right.) Well done Timex and well done Father Christmas!
