Nothing lasts forever but, with a bit of care and attention, outdoor gear can last for a very long time. This is great news if you want to cut back on your expenditure and impact on the environment, and if you happen to love your oldest (but a bit leaky) jacket. We Blondes sometimes find it a bit tricky to schedule our gear maintenance schedule because we use it all so for so much of the year. When, for example, is a girl supposed to get her down sleeping bag cleaned if she uses it pretty much once a week for the whole 52? One outdoor gear maintenance (and preservation) activity that can easily take place in the winter is the washing and proofing of jackets and waterproof trousers. These work dogs of the outdoor world deserve a bit of tender loving care but are often neglected. If you have recently noticed water dribbling into your armpits or cold patches in your down jacket, it might be time to give it a clean (and, if suitable, a waterproof).
What with our own, our family’s and B1’s outdoor stores, we Blondes have a lot of outdoor gear to look after, which is why we were so pleased with our recent gift from Grangers who sell a whole range of outdoor gear cleaning and protection products.
