The phrase ‘be careful what you wish for’ has been ringing very loudly in my ears lately.

Since Little Miss Blonde was little I have encourage her to explore and enjoy new places. She has ventured far and near, alone and with others, for as long as she can remember. The highlights of her ‘wanderlust’ have been Switzerland aged 12, Botswana and Zambia aged 16, Peru aged 20, but there have been many more in between and since. She has returned home for just over a week and is at the beginning of the biggest adventure to date! Little Miss Blonde and Numbers are off on a trip beginning in South East Asia that might take 6 months, one year, two years or forever.

I am regretting not encouraging her to knit, play on the X-box or collect stamps.

I am also full of admiration for them as they do exactly what I have always told them: “get out there and see the world”.

Note from Blonde Two:

In a weird twist of Blonde synchronicity, I too have waved goodbye to an offspring this weekend. Bearded-Blonde who is not really Blonde but has more than his fair share of beard, is off to Australian sunshine! He will just miss bumping into Little-Miss-Blonde and Numbers at the airport.

As my Aunty Jean, queen of adventures, once said to me, “Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it that you can!”

Good luck to all three of you lovely travellers. I shall be waiting eagerly to hear stories upon your return. Failing that I shall be coming out to visit!!
