What can I say:
We didn’t walk very far – but we did walk.
Our bags had less in them – but they were still heavy.
We crossed two rivers – but used two bridges.
We traversed a section of Dartmoor – but knew the path well.
It hailed – but the sun shone too.
The truth is that by day three of walking, we Blondes were both a bit knackered.
But we were doing it, we had been doing it for three days … and lots of other people hadn’t!
So come on Diamond Challenge, let’s be having you. Just our Bronze (style) and Gold (style) expeditions to go before 2016 is over!
While out bird-surveying today I chatted to two DofE groups doing their bronze – moving at a good speed through the woods with quite heavy packs and very cheerful. It was good to see. Was also passed by 6 off-road motorbikes that kicked up a lot of stones right at Broughy’s eye-level. I know which groups I prefer!
So nice to hear that groups are being friendly. We stop and talk to lots of youngsters, Dartmoor is full of teams at this time of year. It is always a pleasure!
