There is a lot to be said for longevity and Blonde One and I have recently experienced a very lovely result of our years working together with young people in the outdoors.
Back in 2015 we told you about our ‘Generation One‘ of youngsters whom, whilst they did their own DofE Gold and Ten Tors 55 Miles training and expeditions, B1 trained as young leaders. All three of them went on to become an essential part of our team, helping to run Ten Tors training and DofE expeditions, even organising a Bronze expedition themselves.
Move on to 2018 and another Bronze expedition with B1’s new school (Generation Three). We were accompanied by another pair of young leaders, fresh from their own successful Gold DofE expedition (Generation Two).
A lovely feeling to have two ‘generations’ once again but the pride really did swell when we welcomed back ‘Brummie‘ who had, since leaving school, trained as a DofE Assessor and was continuing his volunteering. ‘Brummie’ was there to assess B1’s new Bronze intake, which he did very well and fairly, but it was lovely to have a laugh with him again and chat about the old days.
Needless to say, our new young leaders were very interested to hear a few stories!!
What goes on the moor… apparently doesn’t always stay on the moor!
