Whilst living the life of the not-teacher I have been in the lovely position of being able to take my daily swim in the morning. I arrive at the pool wearing jeans and a jumper over my swimming costume, and with my hair swept up in a fashionable chignon. Well, actually I don’t even know what a chignon is; my morning hair arrangement is more a case of hiding as much of the tangled mess as I can with clips and bandanas.
I have christened this plethora of hair controlling devices ‘hair-furniture’ (we met the man who was in charge of ‘path-furniture‘ on the Isle of Man). It takes ages to remove all of my hair-furniture and add a plain band before I can enter the pool. I am beginning to wonder if I should just arrive au mess.
One piece of hair-furniture that has been working well for me recently is a headband that I bought in Austria. Complete with edelweiss, this handy contraption is ideal for walks on hot days as it stops sweat running into your eyes. Reading a map with sweaty eyes is a very difficult affair! You can also achieve this effect with a Buff but I have yet to find a Buff with an edelweiss pattern.
“Reading a map with sweaty eyes…”, that comes from someone of true experience, it is one the biggest bugbears of my life, especially at the momnet on this walk. I find I have to discipline myself to calm down, wipe glasses clean, mop up sweat and get my breath back first, but it all takes time.
You would probably look fab in one of my headbands!
