Five days, I reckon is enough time to get a feel for a place. This is especially true if that place is an island and you are a Two Blonde who likes to explore. My Dad used to visit the Isle of Man with his granddad and he told me that it was beautiful. This was a complete and utter understatement.
The Isle of Man has everything that a Blonde who loves the outdoors could need. Very friendly natives, a beautiful coastline, an actual real live mountain and views that defy description. I think my favourite thing is the views, not just because they defy description (no, you won’t persuade me to try) but because they don’t stay still for a second. We have walked along the most northerly ridge of the island today and the sight of the clouds, some held low over the coast by temperature inversions, some whisping quickly across the tops has been fascinating. One of our youngsters summed it up when, after his first long expedition day of heat and hills (they will have four altogether), he beamed at me and said, “I love this island.”
We do too and as I am not going to attempt to describe the indescribable, here are some photos to show you some of our favourite bits so far.
Whether you think you were lost for words or not you have undoubtedly conveyed your enthusiasm.
I thought at first that one of the piccies showed an upside-down Blonde hanging out of a dying tree; but I perceive that it is actually a poor old horse who has got stuck up there and needs some oats to attract him down.
Whenever I visit, which isn’t nearly often enough, I always find I don’t want to come home! Love, love LOVE the Isle of Man !
