You’ve heard of the Dartmoor Lynx, you’ve heard of the Beast of Bodmin … well now there’s a new hunt on to find the Moor Otters! These sculptures stand at about one metre high and they have been decorated in their own unique way by artists and local people. There is a ‘Colin the Rescue Otter’, a ‘Dark Knight’ otter and even a ‘Jail Bird’ otter, to name but a few of these 100 cute masterpieces.

A visit to the website will give you all the information you need to be able to bid for one of these otters or to enter the competition to find all 100 otters. The competition has some fab prizes provided by local businesses. Download the entry form here http://www.moorotters.co.uk

The point of this project is to raise money for the National Park to support its conservation efforts, which are already quite considerable. The otter is indigenous to Dartmoor but has been in decline over recent years but is thankfully making a comeback so makes a good subject for the hunt.

I’ve found one already but I’m not telling you where! It was painted by Loz Atkinson and is called ‘Stellar Otter’.
