I don’t know how much you Blondees and Blondettes know about fairies but I have my suspicions that one of the fairies that lives on Dartmoor has been up to no good.  I have mentioned the “Fairy Bridge” over the River Swincombe before.  If you haven’t been there, I would recommend the area, there is plenty of history to explore and some lovely, not too long stretches of open moorland upon which to stretch your legs.

You might however feel a bit cheated, if you went tomorrow because the bridge is closed pending an engineering inspection.  There are some stepping stones but I wouldn’t recommend those at the moment either, on Sunday they were under water.

Fairy Bridge

When we were at the bridge (I don’t think I broke it) on Sunday, we checked to see if the fairies that live there were at home.  We Blondes haven’t seen them for a while now and have been a bit worried.  I have a couple of theories;

1.  They have run away with some naughty pixies.  We all know what happens to people who play with pixies, they end up getting very lost.  Maybe the same is true for fairies.

2.  They have been kidnapped.  I am not sure who would be brave enough to kidnap a fairy.  Certainly not someone from Devonshire, the folks around here all know that you shouldn’t mess with the little people.

3.  They have been hiding because they don’t want anyone to find out that they have been slowly unscrewing the bolts that hold the Swincombe Bridge together.  This is my favourite theory because all of the fairies that I have ever met (I do believe in fairies, I do) have been very, very mischievous and very, very Blonde!
