I’ve known various people who have worn and loved Salomon boots. I’ve only every had trainers so I was quite excited to see if their boots were as good for my feet as my well worn trainers. The Salomon Quest 4D 2 GTX have had a thorough testing! Instead of the usual Dartmoor for a product testing I opted for less rugged environment. These boots are sold as being slightly lighter weight design based on trail running shoes so I thought I’d go for more lanes and tracks rather than open moorland for a first outing. Having said that, at the end of the day I would not hesitate to take these out onto the moors; they were excellent. I was a little hesitant about the high ankle support as I like my boots to feel quite loose but it wasn’t a problem at all. They felt secure and very stable.

The boots came back from my walk soaking wet (outside only!) and covered in mud. My feet had been comfy all day. That is, once I’d got the lacing sorted out (I’m a bit fussy with this).

As well as being a good fit, they look good! Blonde Two’s pair are similar but have a little flash of green here and there to help us to not get them mixed up. One of these days we will turn up on Dartmoor with odd boots, but I don’t think Dartmoor will mind!

Our boots were kindly provided by Millet Sports. Have a look for yourself at Millet’s great range of Salomon boots to see what you fancy!
