Today is the 25th National Poetry Day! What better activity to do today then, than to check out the Places of Poetry website. It aims to create a geographical anthology of poetry which individuals can upload. The map that is used as the visual representation is beautiful on its own but when you read some of the poems attached to a specific place it really comes alive. We all have favourite places and it is especially pleasing to read a poem that brings that place to life in the memory banks. One of my favourites that has been added is from the South West Coast Path at Beer Head. I may be a little biased as this poem – Pas de Deux – was written by a very good friend! The phrase “utter contentedness” from the poem sums up perfectly the feeling that walking gives me.
