Well Blondees and Blondettes, The Two Blondes need your help with a little dilemma. If you remember (those of you who have been with us from the day blog), on the 31st December 2012, I set myself the challenge of writing a blog post for every day this year. As I have never, ever managed to stick to a new year’s resolution before, I am feeling rather disproportionately excited about the prospect of completing this one. One slight irony that has just come to me is that all of my failed previous resolutions have been about fitness and weight loss. This one was not but has resulted in improvements in both of these departments. This means that I have found the answer to what I shall call “Resolution Failure”, you have to set a “Counter Resolution”, i.e. one that will lead to your actual goal. The tricky (some might say impossible) thing is that, for this to work, you must not acknowledge (or indeed even know about) the actual, final goal.
Anyway, back to our dilemma. Some of you have asked what is going to happen after December 31st. Will the Two Blondes cease to exist and go back to being just plain old …. and …. ? (Not that we are either plain or old you understand). Will we continue as we are and produce daily blog posts for another year? Will Two Blondes Walking continue in another format? We would be very happy to answer these questions if we knew what the answer was ourselves.
Our original idea, (formed, as all good ideas, on a Dartmoor walk) was that we should write a book. A bit like the traditional Dartmoor walking guides but much more silly. I don’t know if you have noticed but walking guide books tend to be either very serious or have lots of instructions for pushchairs. In navigation speak; at the time, a blog seemed like a reasonable attack point from which to set a bearing to successful publication. It would appear though that we have failed to attack anything from this rather enjoyable attack point and are still failing to even manipulate the compass. If we want to write “Doing It the Dartmoor Way”, we need to stop doing something else. The options for things to give up appear to be; DofE (no way), Ten Tors (over our Blonde bodies), eating (may eventually be counter productive), the day job (may end up sharing a cave), the blog (now a serious addiction).
We are planning to bring you a Review of the Blonde Year sometime soon so watch this blog space. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions as to how to invent a new day on which book writing is compulsory, please let us know. We will be having a “Blonde Meeting” soon at a well known Dartmoor cafe.
