I don’t know about you but every now and then a girl wants to try on a shoe or boot that hasn’t been designed for 8 hour hikes across Dartmoor bogs, which is why we Blondes were very pleased to be offered some of this winter’s cosy and great-looking Hi-Tec boots to try. Here’s what we thought…
The Hi-Tec St Moritz 200 Waterproof II Women’s Winter Boot (B1)
These boots are the perfect combination of practicality and style. Is that stylicality? They are the cosiest pair of footwear that I own, including some particularly cosy slippers, and yet I think they would keep me dry in the rain and snow and would certainly give me some degree of stability on icy surfaces. The MDT soles have some impressive ‘lug technology’ going on … who knew that that was a thing?! The generous size means that if by some improbable chance I should need some thick socks there would be plenty of room. One winter evening last year I had a huge dilemma: deciding what to wear on my feet to trudge through the snow from the train station to Chez Blonde Two. These boots would have been perfect for the occasion. I can only hope that this winter there will be a similar amount of snow combined with an invitation!
The Hi-Tec Riva Waterproof Women’s Boot (B2)
I have learnt over the years that ‘waterproof’ can mean a variety of things. However, as these boots have been designed to be stylish and comfortable in winter town (or slightly country) walking conditions and not to stand up to Dartmoor bogs, I am convinced that they are going to do their job. The other job they do rather well is give a girl who loves shoes but can’t really wear very many of them an opportunity to combine a bit of style and comfort (stomfort?) Perfect for an autumn or winter stroll but not a stomp or trek. As B1 has said, these are a generous fit with plenty of room for warm, winter socks. My only criticism of them is their laces, which are a bit fiddly to do up and undo. Last winter we saw the most snow that I have ever experienced in Devon, it was even on the beach. I will definitely be issuing a girl invitation again and hopefully we will get snowed in like last time!
From time to time we Blondes are sent free outdoor products to field test and promote on social media. We will always be honest about our findings and any products we don’t keep for ourselves find their way into our expedition stores. Great for us, great for you and great for our youngsters!
