From time to time we Blondes are sent free outdoor products to field test and promote. We also have an affiliate relationship with Rohan. We will always be honest about our findings and any products we don’t keep for ourselves find their way into our expedition stores. Great for us, great for you and great for our youngsters.

There have been many days this winter when I could have said no to a walk because of the weather. It’s been wet … very wet! I now have found a jacket that fits the bill for keeping me warm and dry on rainy days. The Rohan Ridge overhead jacket is the first one I have that goes over my head instead of zipping up, so I was keen to give it a try. It has a handy zip that goes part way down which helps to get it on and off, and which will be useful when it gets a bit warmer I expect. The pockets are huge and can fit all sorts of gloves, hats, sweets, compasses, phones (not in the same pocket as the compass don’t forget), lip salve, and all manner of other things. Be warned though, the fuller the pockets, the bigger the bulge! I loved this jacket for the way it looked but more importantly for the way it kept me dry whilst being comfortable and protected from the wind. Probably one of the best bits of this jacket is the hood; it allows you to move your head from side to side without obscuring your vision.

I think I need some more practice at getting the jacket off though. When I tried, I revealed more of my midriff than I would have liked! Luckily Blonde Two was on hand to save my dignity and give me a lesson in ‘overhead jacket removal’!
