Whether you’ve just got an hour or two to spare or whether you have the whole weekend, the South West Coast Path has everything you need for a stunning day out. It helps of course, to have fabulous weather but don’t let that stop you if it’s a bit drizzly.

Recently I walked for an hour near to Salcombe in South Devon along the coast path. It was a stunning day with some glorious winter sun and I had views that were breathtaking. The steep hills had the same effect, funnily enough!

The names of the coves of this stretch of coast path are really interesting, featuring plenty of livestock: Pig’s Nose, Ham Stone, Gammon Head, The Bull. As well as the views and striking cliff edges, there were several coves to explore that were deserted. A real treat for a coffee stop.

The additional bonus of course is that there is very little navigation involved! Just keep the sea on one side of you and keep going.
