I would like to be able to claim that I don’t believe in luck. The Two Blondes didn’t camp out last night in the end but are walking today. It is cold. We have kids with us. Maybe luck is a good thing.
For luck (or comfort) on Dartmoor, I have always worn a shell that was sent to me years ago by my sister who was living in New Zealand while I was at home raising my family. The shell lives on a string around my neck. I was wearing it when I broke my ankle and it will probably strangle me one day.
Nowadays, I also wear a wristband given to me by Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton. It is always a comfort to know that there is someone out there to help should I need it.
