This poem was inspired by my early morning sea swims throughout the winter of 2017. I was astonished every morning by how different each sunrise could be and by how many colours and textures the sea could appear. I changed colour too, frozen white toes, blue-tinted lips and glowing rosy cheeks. I can thoroughly recommend winter swimming.
Lying here in my cosy bed
Imagination takes me to your shore.
I remember dipping toes,
Splashing further,
Till the tide takes over;
the final plunge,
Shoulders in,
Breathing sharp,
Exhilaration.
Glowing skin,
Sand in toes,
Quickly now,
rub dry;
Time to face the day
Fold the duvet back,
Take the plunge;
Bubbly bath!
Love, Mum x
Very good, I have to admit that a bubble bath would have been lovely after my chilly dip this morning.
