By: Blonde Two
Churchill’s famous quote after the allied victory at the second battle of El Alamein is below:
‘Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.‘
Over the next few weeks, the Two Blondes will face a time of change; we freely admit that neither of us like change, and you can be assured that the change that is to come is not of our making. After seven years of being Blonde work colleagues, my redundancy has finally caught up with me and I will have to leave in a few weeks time.
This change has been a long and painful time coming; but I at last feel ready to face it head on. I have to confess that I have had moments when I thought that Two Blondes might be forced to fold. I am glad to report though, that there have been many more moments when I knew that it wouldn’t.
You see, I have realised something; Blondness is not a job, it isn’t a lifestyle and it isn’t a creed. I am not quite sure exactly what it is; but I know that it isn’t over. It can’t be over, because we have too much to do yet. We have books to write and Bimbles to invent, we have youngsters to train and lives to change, we have a business to grow and success to earn, we have a moor to explore and mountains to climb, we have tears to cry and giggles to convulse us.
If Churchill was right, and this is the Blonde end of the Blonde beginning; then I have to say that it has been a very, very good beginning, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of it is going to be like.
Thanks Blonde One!
When one meets fellow randonneurs in France and then you go your separate ways their salutation is “Bonne continuation” which I wish you both wholeheartedly, not that I envisage you two going separate ways, it is “bonne continuation” together.
Vive les Blondes.
Bonne continuation indeed. What a wonderful phrase. Thank you very much Conrad.
Good luck B2
Thank you Colin. To be honest, I am quite excited about what the future might hold.
Summer is coming and better things over the Blonde horizon.
Indeed, I think summer has already arrived in Devon. Here’s hoping for a sunny final Ten Tors training weekend this weekend. We are due one as it has been wet and miserable for the last three years.
The pleasure is all mine! 🙂
A cross between vive les Blondes and bonne continuation … vive le continuation!!!!
