I recently purchased my new picnic mat from Rubbastuff. I have had my small Patch mat for a long time now and it is tried and tested so I knew the bigger version was going to be a winner. I chose the Dartmoor National Park design obviously and I was not disappointed! It is a thing of beauty and has attracted lots of attention already. A recent trip was planned for Ollie the Collie’s first visit to the beach. I brought the Patch mat for Ollie and the family size mat for the humans. Ollie had other ideas! He decided that he was going to be a Dartmoor fan already and insisted on sharing the family picnic mat with us!
The mat packs up unbelievably small into its own stuff bag and has a waterproof underside to make it the perfect picnic blanket. The corners, as with the Patch, have button holes so that you can peg it down if it’s a bit windy.

I bought one in August – the Dartmoor version of course!
I’m just interested, what made you go for a product that contains micro fibre and nylon as opposed to a wholly natural fibre and locally Dartmoor made (Lustleigh) alternative by Moorswood. Their ‘Rambers Roll’ picnic and sit mats are very good and don’t contain any microfibres and hence, I would have thought, although I’m not an expert, much better for the environment. http://www.moorswood.com.
Just interested.
They are indeed beautiful Al and look really cosy. Looking at the price I think perhaps the two products are suited to different markets. I would happily park my bottom on either.
