I have been using a variety of different GPS map apps for a while now. They are useful, especially when doing a night walk, to look back on to see how accurate you were (obviously we Blondes are nearly always spot on with our navigation!). One of these apps has been updated to feature a new element that was fun to try out in Wales. By holding your phone up to the ‘Skyline’ the app tells you which peaks you can see and how far they are away, and also the names of towns, bodies of water, etc. It uses augmented reality to label what you can see.
I spent a fair amount of time playing with the app and Mr Blonde One and I found it amusing looking at what was supposed to there through the thick fog! We were left to imagine the row of peaks and mountains shown by the app.
They look like an aerial forest of broken-off ski tips.
Hee – they remind me of my Grandfather’s book of contour maps of English cycle routes!
