A very clever (and maybe slightly annoying) person is going to tell me that the creatures in my picture are not horses and are not wild. They would be right of course; but ‘Farmed Ponies’ doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.

I usually observe Dartmoor ponies leading a very sedate life; they are often engaged in such mundane activities as grazing, stopping the traffic and nibbling Blonde rucksacks.

After the eclipse on Friday, Not-at-all-Blonde and I noticed this pair getting a bit excitable. They did neighing, galloping and generally horsing (sorry!) around. We were thrilled when I managed to get close enough (for once the gorse was useful) to take this picture.Ponies Eclipse 2
