You might wonder why on earth training on a cold, wet Dartmoor is a good idea for an expedition to Morocco! Well, World Challenge have chosen the best place on the moors to hold their pre-expedition training weekend. I spent the weekend with our Trinity team at Heatree Activity Centre, which is right on our doorstep. It was an action packed weekend which took the team a million miles outside of their comfort zones: just as they will be in Morocco.
The activity centre itself really has everything. It has a soft field for us to camp in (I had an excellent night sleep despite the heavy rain). It has a reconstruction of a Dartmoor roundhouse in which to take shelter. It has a woodland with its own high and low rope activities. It even has its own stone cross and stone row.
The team got involved with cooking, navigating, team building, hiking and planning. All in all it was a very successful weekend!
